By the way, when selecting the 508 client, it's almost impossible to get it to connect to the server of your preference. Even when I select the "New Server" option and then the "New Port" to properly set up the connection with the correct settings, it doesn't seem to establish the connection to that destination. I sometimes manage to get it work after fiddling around with it for a while. And it's not some sort of problem with the server since the ping feature works.

    This is the applet's output:

For some reason, I've never gotten the built in 508 server to connect. At least on my machine it doesn't even listen on a socket, it appears to be a problem with some of the libraries it uses, so instead of screwing with it more I'll probably try to find a simpler 508 server.

It just needs to one player to connect and a few commands and basic combat no?

MoparScape 4.1 is now released, now you guys can write your own clients and run them in MoparScape using all of the features it has to offer, and anyone running a custom client will know they are safe because my SecurityManager ensures that custom clients can't do anything malicious.

    Quote from: readme.txt
With this latest release of MoparScape 4.1, it is now possible for anyone to write a custom client, of
any version, to run inside of MoparScape by simply supplying the URL for the custom client jar to MoparScape.

To do this, your client must have a class with the name 'client' in the default package, which implements
the org.moparscape.iface.ClientInterface interface.  For more info on how to implement that interface,
refer to the javadocs of the interface itself.

You can also write a custom server for your client.  It must have a class with the name 'server' in the
default package, which implements the org.moparscape.iface.ServerInterface interface. For more info on how
to implement that interface, refer to the javadocs of the interface itself.

If you have any questions, concerns, or bugs to report, post them on this thread:

    Thanks,
    moparisthebest

I am actually going to pay for people to write clients and servers for moparscape, I'm going to start the price off at $100 for completely implemented client and server combinations, of any version not already done, to be released open source for official inclusion into moparscape.  Start programming.

What version of OSX would be helpful?  Honestly the browser shouldn't matter, the version of java may, as each of them I've tested have slightly different permissions they request.

Just basics, logging in and walking around at least.
My server has that along with database integration, chatting, full player updating, custom configuration parser, revision independent engine (also, I should add that the engine has a debugging system for the revision-specific's packet decoder, checking to see whether the packet size matches the actual amount of bytes consumed by the packet-processing), highly scalable networking framework (uses NIO), etc

edit: Also, I implemented 317 and 508 encoder/decoders just as a proof-of-concept showing how the engine supports various revisions.

Talk about it more in the 'paying for private servers' thread, but depending on what you are going for there are different requirements, check in that thread for more info.
