Resoultion fix for Java Clients on High DPI (scaling)
    « on: October 29, 2016, 08:53:02 AM »
Hello, i've been having trouble trying to play on the server or any java server for that fact, and today after couple hours browsing around i've came across a way and i'd like to share the method of making it easier to play on small screens... like windows tablets, as you can see in the picture below that's in full screen and both chat panel and tab panel is right at the bottom and text is hard to see or click on anything it's not even adjustable properly through windows display properties so if this is a problem to anyone else follow this guide  :)

    http://www.restuner.com/ < 30 day free trial
https://java.com/en/download/ < java needs to be installed

Step 1: Open up your client.jar file, then open task manager and look for javaw.exe in the details tab of task manager and right click and select properties

now you should see the location of the java you're using for the client.jar like so

    Step 2:

Now we've got the location of the javaw.exe file we need to open resource tuner in administrator mode that was linked to in the requirements section of this guide, and you'll end up with a screen like this

press Ctrl + O together and head to the location from step 1 and open the file within resource tuner.
    > example C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jreYOUR_VER\bin\javaw.exe

    Step 3:

You will now see a page that looks like this

Click on the manifest folder on the left handside of the software and it'll open another folder with one item inside double click on the item highlighted in yellow

    Step 4:

the program will now open a manifest file with loads of text strings and we need to look for the line where it says

      <asmv3:windowsSettings xmlns=";>

we need to change the line from true to false like this "<dpiAware>false</dpiAware>"

    Step 5:

Now we've edited the file we need to save the document so head to the top toolbar and click File, then "Save File" (Ctrl + S) and it should save the document any errors here and you're not in administrator mode.
Now its time to restart your client to see the resolution change for your small high dpi computer! attached image below of the resolution change

Any questions comment below, also this is the first forum post so if it's in the wrong section my bad! hope i could help some people.
