The 'wiggling' was due to me trying to move his hands away as they were in the way of mine and ruining my balance.
    "spotter heavily helping you"
"taking away some of the weight"

Not only do I do 80's without spotters or anyone oh so heavily assisting me and "balancing" me, but the only reason I even bothered to get someone to spot me was because I still wasn't confident enough in my 20lb raise. At high weight, I'm not just going to quickly adjust into proper position (referring to your balancing statement), it requires a bit more time which is what I was heading towards until he decided to assist on that.

To even suggest using a machine is poor advice. I suggest that you check out Elliot Hulse's videos on as to why.
A huge percent of the strength of doing dumbell press goes into stabilization so he's right at saying using a spotter means you're not 'really' handling it on your own. But still at this point it isn't significant, if you can do 80 on your own you're already doing well. I can only do 55's but I only do incline so that may translate to more laying flat.

I already have man boobs ;)
You can grab a handful if you'd like.
    ..maybe even two.
I just mean they're not a personal preference of mine, I find doing incline only gives you a more flat/squared out chest that looks alot more interesting

Dumbbells are best for inducing hypertrophy which is desired when building muscle. They aren't the best for raw strength (in this case anyway). As far back as you can remember the best exercise for building upperbody pressing power is, and always will be, the bench press. Dumbbell benching is good for hypertrophy, bench pressing is good for strength - DON'T confuse the two.
I don't understand this because stimulation is stimulation, your muscles don't know the difference between presses they just know they're being worked. But I'd say the chest and bicep work more in a DB press to stabilize compared to a bench which is going to be heavier on your tris

Correct, your muscles do not know the difference between stimulation. To be technical, the dumbbell press will stimulate low-pec related areas more than the bench press, and the bench press will stimulate the upper-pec along with the delts resulting in an increased amount of stimulation from 1 motion (notice I left bicep/tricep out, both exercises stimulate both). That's why I said incorporate both, to stimulate both areas.

ps anyone here big on using kettlebells? Just wondering what kind of workouts you do, if you do use them. They're such amazing bits of equipment tbh

I started riding to work this week. Rode Monday and Tuesday, didn't ride today due to forecasted rain and possible storms.

It costs me $8 per day to park my car near work and roughly $5 a day for fuel (23km trip each way, assuming $1.50/L for fuel and 7L/100km). So basically I'm saving $13/day in fuel and driving for only 1 hour extra travel time (1 hour by bike as opposed to 20 - 30 minutes by car depending on traffic - each way).
I value my time at far more than $13/hour of course so I wouldn't ride if there wasn't the health benefit. Long story short though, it's a great situation.

I would suggest getting a metal horse-shoe lock if you don't already have one lothy. A few days ago my bike was stolen with one of the simple password locks.

    Its a shame.

We have a room at work that bikes go in, so there's no potential for theft.
It sucks that your bike was stolen though. =\

I need to bulk without getting fat. Is that a stupid statement/question?

I still have a little bit of fat around my stomach but I feel like I'm getting too skinny (especially in pics)...

Its called a clean bulk, you're still going to be gaining fat but very slowly so you can call it quits once you feel you've gained enough.

I believe its just a +200 surplus of calories a day, where dirty bulking is 500-750

    ^

I've been clean-bulking and average around .3-.5 lbs a week. I suppose I could do more, but it has been working for me.

For 163 lbs I'd say im pretty built, apart from my calves, which hate me and refuse to grow.

It sounds like you need to do some squats/deadlifts if you don't already. You won't get heaps of calf muscle growth unless you take roids though I imagine.

I guess his 28th birthday won't be his luck day.

Inb4 he claims "correct use", if it was correct use he'd be using them to get to normal base levels. Truth is youll never know how you react to steroids until years after you take them and by then the damage is done. Its not as simple as getting a bad reaction and then stop taking them to cure it

In all honesty, there's a few guys I train with in their early-mid 30's who take a mild dose of dbol (round about 25mgs) and they have no shame in admitting it, they do it because they no longer find the training as easy as they did at a younger age and were getting to the point of damaging themselves. I don't mind this type of steroid user but anyone under 30 who uses them to get themselves big and then claim natty deserves to be lined up and fudgeing shot. Standing there with 24" bi's and a bacne that you see through their shirt, but obviously they aren't on any kind of steroid. Not at all. Nope. None.
