    Senior Member Title
    « on: September 10, 2014, 03:17:30 PM »
I've been on this website since August 06, 2006. Just wondering if there is a type of tag besides "member" that is available for us long term users.

    Appreciate any response.

We know you're a senior member, we love you, bro. Why make it official?

    Lol.
Well, my name is lower-cased... which now I would never do... under any circumstances.
So if there was a "Senior Member" underneath, maybe I wouldn't feel like such a noob. ^_^

Message Tom about getting Community Member status. Seeing as you've been here for so long you should get it, just let him know your registration date.

We don't have any ranks that are based solely on registration date. We have other groups (such as veteran) that aren't visible and require a nomination and a voting process.

To specifically answer the question, the Senior Member title is based on your post count.

There is no senior member rank that's based on your post count anymore.

Moparian*, which is still what the OP meant by not having Member under his name. But a quick glance makes it look like that was removed as well? When did that happen? I remember a discussion about changing the post count requirements for those ranks but I can't remember one about removing them completely. Link?

I can't remember if there was a discussion, you expressed you weren't aware about it a while back in another topic. Regardless, as far as this topic is concerned there is no Moparian/Senior Member rank.

There is no senior member rank that's based on your post count anymore.

I think it's good that we did away with Senior Member, Moparian, etc. If you want to be treated with the reverence and held in high esteem then let it be because you're known for doing something - not because you've been sitting on your arse for eight years and some people haven't.

They were titles specifically renamed to indicate they were nothing more than a simple ruler for post count. It's a bit ridiculous that anyone would consider that high esteem. Now we can't see post count indicators or specific values at all. If anything, that makes registration date more "esteem" than ever, because we cant see if someone has actually been posting in those 8 years of if they have just been 'sitting on their arse'. That's some backwards logic.

I think it's a good idea to remove most ranks, but i think people who have done work that you can actually call work instead of making just another 317 (sorry but those just iritate me personally and my statement shouldn't be taken as a official argument)
I mean, nearly everyone knows Davidi2 here.
    But i was thinking..
Someone who posted alot in the model section and has some adored model work, could get the rank "modeler"
Someone who posted alot of adored servers (with creative and new work) could be ranked "Coder"
And variants for people who have been actively doing it for 5+ years like "Veteran Coder"
Or fun ranks for coders that work on a specific revision, like "317 junkie" that kind of stuff.

I get that some level of profesionality is needed, but ranks make the forums more personal.
And a bit of compitition is healthy.

    Anyway, those are my ideas.

    Kind regards.
             DemonWars.
    I have returned.

You've made 22,375 posts at the time I wrote this reply.

The people who matter have reputations that precede them, and these reputations are entirely removed from notions such as post counts, website usage, or account age. Silabsoft would be one example. Semaphore was another when he was around.
