You should always open programs in Microsoft Word, otherwise the binary gets mixed up. Here's an example.

    Before Word:
    Code: [Select]
    000 11 0000 111 000 1aandjfifghgkdkkd$$%$$###System
    After Word:
    Code: [Select]
    public static void main
We should really post some tutorials around here.

What pure said. However, you should always post the surrounding code when asking for help.
It's very difficult to figure what's going on when we can only see snippets.

No, Travis should have just shut this place down instead of selling it. Like Kaits.
Why the hell does this guy want to buy a dead community that he isn't even a part of?

Moparisthebest was not planning to shut down the site or let it die. He was approached with a massive offer out of the blue. Kaitnieks didn't receive massive offers. On the contrary he did sell Autorune to a scammer, and when kaitnieks shut down he linked to RaW's site which then scammed everyone for autorune2.

EVERYONE has a sell out price.

Bit of a difference between linking to somewhere and handing over the entire forum.
Seriously JME, I never expected you to be the one who straddles the sell out.

Countless times in the past the community thought "this is the end" or that the scene was "dead" but it never dies. I am telling everyone to sit back and watch the show. Some people have a game plan :)

Then share? We haven't had any news from Travis. We haven't had any news from the new owner. You haven't mentioned anything that's of worth. What's this big game plan? What a joke. Do you three seriously think you're going to return this forum to it's previous 'glory'? It's dying. Oh, maybe you could chuck on some terrible theme. That would bring in the users, right? Or maybe we can have a super PK ULTRA PRIVATE SERVER COMMUNITY X. That would work, yeah? No, no. Let's make everything easier to navigate. That's surely why we're almost dead.

Get real. There's no reason why people shouldn't be allowed to delete their accounts if they wish to.
It's suspicious that you lot seem so against it.

Then at work, I had my app picked up by a government ran company over here in Aus. So that's causing a lot of stress.

What do you mean by picked up?
Well, in Australia, the government is involved in pretty much everything. So a government ran company could mean anything, it means he showed the app and they wanted to use it so they are paying him to customize it for their uses.

    This ^.

buying a dying forum will only turn a profit if the new owner decides to sell private informatoin, get me outta here  :(

You don't even know what you're talking about. Mopar did a load of checks on this guy before he decided to sell and has provided us with lots of valuable information. It's not like this new owner has 2 posts or anything like that. Everyone knows him and he most certainly didn't pop out of the blue. Hell, look how many of my questions he managed to answer. I almost feel like I've known him all my life.

    Oh.. wait.

    Hello Guys,

    Let me introduce myself.

My name is Graham, I'm a developer and I've been in the RSPS community for some time.

I've noticed moparscape as a fairly large community that had so many things that could be improved about it (website wise) and I wanted to give it a shot to make it become the largest RSPS community out there.

My plans are to re-do the entire website, the design, make everything easier to find (it's fairly hard to find the status page right now for instance), basically focus on the user experience of the website, I wanted to focus a lot on the toplist because the toplist has a lot of potential.

I have no intention to do any harm to the community, there is absolutely no reason for me to invest large amounts of money & time to 'steal people's passwords', all passwords are encrypted anyways.

If you guys have any questions, ask ahead

What community were you at before deciding to purchase this one? Other names you are known by? Any previous communities?
What made you decide to purchase this?
Who is the 'team' you mentioned?
What's your history? There's a lot of negative things posted here about you. It's a good time to clear some of it up.
Hobbies? What do you do for fun?

I'm sure you can understand why we're suspicious of you. We know nothing about you and you've provided very little information about yourself.
This is a great opportunity to properly introduce yourself.

Moparisthebest: Because he get the code to the forums, he could update the login form to send passwords in clear-text and handle that encryption on the server-side (I assume it's done client-side now). So he could log all username and password pairs easily.

Of course, once he is running it, but the point is that he can't bruteforce any old passwords from people who didn't change it before the switch.

    you're selling our private data

What private data? Everything on the forums is public, except your password (protected by scrypt), and your email which is essentially worthless.  And you can change both of them at any point right now?

worthless??????????? thats why marketing companies pay for verified emails??????????????

Really, which ones?  I would have sold them for much less hehe.

I seriously doubt it, and are we forgetting the full database has already been leaked when a certain admin re-used a password?

Moparisthebest: Do you know what plans have been made so far? All I want to know is what ideas are coming to the table, maybe even an introduction of the team would be nice. As of right now not much communication has been sent out as to what is happening other than you sold the forum.

I know I'm running it until he wants to switch over, he said the staff could all stay if they want to, and I know he is making big nice changes to return the forum to it's former glory, and that's about it?

When is he taking over and where is he from?

I honestly would never have done this if I didn't think it was the best thing for the community, and don't worry, I'll still be around. :)

Then give us details on who you are selling to? We migrated here because we trusted you to maintain the community. Then you go and hand it over to someone unknown?
You only have this user-base because we came here and not any of the other forums that popped up after kaits.
We are the only reason you have anything to sell.

Best for the community? He isn't even a part of our community?!?! Restore to greatness?
You have to be kidding. You've let this place stagnate and now you're selling out.

This whole thing is sketchy as hell.
I expected you to be slightly more transparent, or at least let people delete their accounts.
You're pretty much spitting in our faces by handing over the db.

You need to fix up the formatting and presentation. Wrap code in code tags.
Secondly, avoid being too opinionated. For example:

Well.. You want to start programming Java, But you know nothing about it? Well Java is a (OBJECT ORIENTATED Language) Which is basically a rip off of C#, Its very stable and reliable and also community driven, Meaning JDOCS will update alot.

Remove this. It indicates to me that you have very little idea of what you're talking about. Other than that, contribution is always a good thing and I hope you keep at it. :) Glad to see you're learning!
