General Server Discussion / Tree Reviews ParagonX - With Developer [HD] - #5 From GoodScape/BadScape Series« on: April 02, 2015, 02:19:51 AM »
Note: The review mainly revolves around the concepts presented and the potential that's there. The technical side has not been examined.
Good isn't great but it's still a thousand steps ahead of bad.
This week I thought I would get a developer on Skype for a new private server in private testing.
It looks promising enough. It's rough around the edges but improvements are being made.
Some content I cut out as requested. Few awkward moments but that's any Skype call.
There is an accompanying app on android that ties in with the game:

This week I thought I would do something a little different and provide 5 tips for improving the state of your private servers.
Included are things to be mindful of when actually selecting a server to devote your time on.
Note: This is mainly audio so it works best if you just keep it running in another tab.
Apologies for the slightly off editing and occasional train of throught derailment.

I'm a liar. I said the last one was the worst server possible. This one is one step above.
Apologies for the jarringness and thump sounds. My cat was getting in the way.
Also, thanks to sk8er for linking me to it.

LAST THREE REVIEWS:

This review just frustrated me because I didn't actually have a chance to review the bloody thing.
Just a tip: Be careful who you make staff.
Second review. I've increased the sound quality but I'm still working on finding the right levels. I've increased the length because if you consume media like I do, I usually have it in another tab and listen to these things as background noise. The length and pace may change next video. Felt a bit lengthy. Excuse the incoherent rambling. Obviously this is just first impressions and I may be wrong about many things. I make this clear though. Also, I'm using a new channel. Enjoy.
I thought every week I would pick a server from the advertisement board and just comment on what I find.
Quality is potato. This week I chose a new server called RageX (https://forum.moparscape.org/index.php/topic,668854.0.html/)
Enjoy. Or not. I don't really care.
As you all know, the scene of Runescape cheating has gone through many changes. Originally it started with a select few people who developed applications allowing for players to have an unfair advantage. 'Auto-clickers' and loads of other VB applications were released. Eventually, cheating progressed and the key individuals created their communities as well as their own little programs. The community before moparscape? Mitb. The community before Mitb? Kaitnieks. Follow the line back and it takes you back to a place called Bovine. Throw RSCN in there somewhere too. Even earlier? I believe it was the Free Games Forum but my memory is foggy. We're talking a decade i think now.
Each time a community was shut down, another rose up. The new community was always filled with the older members. The soul of Runescape cheating was the experienced. The people carried on the information, community to community. It was common to see staff from a shut down place, create the next part of the story. Mopar himself was staff at Kaitnieks. As are many of the long-time staff here.
So what do you believe will happen once Mopar closes? Will a staff member here create the next watering hole for keen cheaters? Villavu has always remained strong, having it's backbone as Simba. There's always been the other side of the scene too. The ugly cousin i guess. Sythe. It too has it's own timeline. RuneCMS. However, Sythe chose to dedicate most of his forums to marketplace.
I think the end of Mopar will spell the death for the scene. It's too diluted with private servers, no important information is documented and a lot of the knowledgeable members have left a long time go. The landscape has changed.
