Trash Can / Re: In-Game Rules

Great to see an in depth list of rules on our own forums, thanks Jody!

    Trash Can / Economy solutions?
    « on: November 07, 2016, 08:48:35 AM »
We have all seen the economy inflating and inflating ad infinitum over the months. With so many people screaming for an economy reset and an equal amount screaming in opposition, we as a community really need to meet a middle ground.

One of the best solutions I and others have communicated is a sort of Gold Sink. For those who do not know: A gold sink is simply a device or method in the game to remove gold permanently and without transferring it. This would essentially be a Gambler but instead of items you can only dump GP into it.

Runescape has the Well of Goodwill, other RSPS' have a lottery of some sort. So why don't we?

Here's what I propose: Creating one if not more gold sinks in game to help out with the massive amounts of GP in game by using what others have shown to be useful:
    • Creating a cost to fix degraded items*
    • Creating a "Well of Goodwill" of our own where the top 5 "Donators" every week/month or whatever will receive non-monetary prizes**
    • Creating a lottery with similar winnings to the Well idea ^**
    • Opening the Fight Pits! Create a monetary fee that will be pooled. The total pool will then be placed in a "Tier" of winnings. The GP will then be converted to a non-monetary reward in the placed Tier***

*This can be selected in a poll by players and does not have to mirror what RuneScape classifies as degradable items.
**These rewards can range from a "Generous" title, customized title, a rare item, or even a pet. The lottery can have similar rewards all determined by a RNG.
***Tier 1 could be any value from 1M-9M and the reward would be 20K tokkul, and an Obsidian weapon. Tier 2 would be 10M-19M and would have a reward of 30K tokkul and an Obsidian weapon or a small chance at obsidian jewelry. As the tiers increase the rewards get steadily better and more reliable of getting a good item.

Please take the time to read this and consider all the options and PLEASE criticize my ideas and voice your own! I would love community feedback on this as well as staff member feedback about feasibility and whatnot.

    Trash Can / Arcticangel5 Application
    « on: November 07, 2016, 07:43:43 AM »
I already posted one but since we have a new template figured it best to update my resume.

    Name: Rob

    Username: Arcticangel5

    Age: 24

    IRL Picture: (Optional)

Where are you from?: Massachusetts, USA

    Timezone: UTC - 5:00

How many hours can you spend daily ingame?:
I usually play between 3 - 8+ hours most days

Why do you want to be part of the staff team?:
I want to effectively make change happen within the game. I feel the best way to do this is to show the staff that I am an asset to the server and the ideas I have can bring positive change to the community.

Why should we choose you over others:
I have been playing on this server for almost 2 months, RSPS' since the beginning in 2007, and runescape since late 2003 early 2004. My knowledge of the runescape world is well established and I have a general propensity towards helping other people.

What are some useable skills you have?:
I have some technical experience in the IT field through my military training so I may be able to provide help in other areas as well. I also like the forums so if forum help is something you need I would gladly offer my services.

    Staff Experience:
I was a moderator/administrator/Co-Owner on a server called HolidayScape for about 6 months before it shut down. I have real life management experience through my professional life and my military career.

What are the qualities you have?:
I possess a strong will and desire to make things better and to help people. I have never been a person to complain about something; rather I prefer to attempt to fix it. I like to believe I have a very strict ethic that I follow in my daily life.

How long have you played Moparscape?:
As of today, the 7th of November, I have played 23,000 minutes.

In a short paragraph, explain what you'll do with your position:
I will utilize all powers given to me in a lawful and productive manner to help achieve better community cohesiveness.

What do you hope to achieve if you are promoted?:
I hope to bring the community together in a way that will create the optimal experience for all players. To me this means not only creating an environment that engages players in numerous activities and events but creating an environment with as little negativity as possible.

Do you understand that if you break rules, or turn out to be a horrendous Helper that you will be demoted?:
Yes: I (Arcticangel527), understand that if I break the rules, or turn out to be a horrendous helper, I will be demoted immediately with no warnings.

    Trash Can / Staff Application
    « on: October 10, 2016, 01:05:58 PM »
    Hello, I am Arcticangel527.

    My IGN is Arcticangel5/Novax527

I am 24 years old and I live in the New England area of the United States.

The reason I am applying for a staff position is because I have seen much complaining by numerous players about the state of the server. Personally I understand the difficulty in running a successful server and I know the staff are working hard to make this a better place. However, I also see some issues that cause me frustration. I don't like complaining, I like making change. I want to become a staff member because I have always believed in "being the change you wish to see". I generally enjoy just helping people where ever I can which is what I try to do every hour I am online.

I have been playing RuneScape since 2004 with the original name Craziman666. I first created an account on MoparScape in 2007 under the same name. I have been playing both sides of the coin for years so I do have a pretty decent knowledge database of the RuneScape world. I have been a Moderator and an Administrator for a short time on some long dead servers and was a Co-owner for an even shorter time on one of those servers. I am a Data Systems Technician in the Marine Corps. Reserve and do have some formal training with servers and other aspects of the IT field so I may be able to offer services in other parts of the community as well.

I recently had a shoulder repair surgery so I do have quite a bit of time on my hands. I am usually online for 6 or more hours at a time most days of the week and I am usually online during the late hours when no staff is online.

Regardless of the outcome or response to my application I will continue to make my presence known on the forums and on the server as well by helping players in any way that I can.

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Trash Can / Highscores
    « on: October 10, 2016, 12:42:54 PM »
Love the high scores table, really gives me motivation to get out there and grind some skills. I know Niels was on earlier messing around with the ranks and making sure all of the commands and whatnot were working. However, there are now two players on the high scores that have bumped the Overall ranks down by two that should not be there. It's a small issue but I like seeing the competition accurately. This is by no means a pressing matter but I do want it to be out there so it can be fixed.

    Thank you!

    Trash Can / Trolls
    « on: September 28, 2016, 02:13:59 PM »
I've been looking over some of the topics in feedback where some players have legitimate concerns or feedback. I would think that feedback like this is vital to the servers evolution. My problem is not with the topics, my problem is with the "moderators" and "staff" whom only respond by saying that players have not donated enough money, or essentially to just suck it up. It would be nice to see some actual staff members offering real advice or sincerely answering questions. It would also be great to see some of these trolls removed from the forums.

    General Board / Getting started?
    « on: September 28, 2016, 12:21:14 PM »
Hey guys, a lot of new people joining the server lately which means a lot of people asking about money. It's one of the most questions asked by newcomers. So I compiled a small guide for the beginners to get started.

This is the most common question and obviously the most important; you can't fully experience or enjoy the game without some gp in your pocket. There are a lot of different ways to make the big bucks, starting off small, however, I recommend the thieving tables located at the edgeville bank. This is a quick way to make money and it will introduce you to the way levelling works in the game. Of course there are numerous other lucrative skilling options, thieving is the easiest and quickest way to make some starter cash.

"Skilling is for girls!" Woah now big guy, if that's how you feel there are other ways! Slayer is a functioning skill that immerses the player into the combat role. I recommend using the training teleport tab to begin your training as well as just a bit of thieving to afford some basic gear. After that you can head back to the edgeville bank home area. Once there head over to the shops building near the wilderness ditch. Just outside is the NPC NIEVE. She is your slayer master, speak with her to get assigned a monster and off you go!! Slayer is a great way to make money by picking up rune and Dragon drops. You also have a chance to get a clue scroll drop which offers the rare chance of getting highly expensive rewards.

Hey there cowboy! Try your hand at PKing ( Player Killing) for those who are seriously new to the game. Some say this is the ultimate test of power and skill. PKing is a dangerous way to make money but the thrill is like none other. Gather the best gear, train the right skills, and reap the rewards. Killing other players can leave you with some serious PK Point Tickets which can either be sold directly or exchanged for serious gear. Of course there's the reward of other players' gear as well. Just be careful you don't lose your precious items. Under the spell book there is a teleport selection that can take you to the PK hotspots and start killing!

If you don't like PKing and slayer is too slow and pays too little try out some of the bosses Moparscape has to offer. These range in difficulty and gear required and payout but all bosses drop the occassional rare and pricey item. From Dragon hatchet to serpentine visages, from dagganoth bones to God sword shards, bossing can be very lucrative with some decent gear and good practice. Be careful though, some bosses are out in the wilderness and the risk of PKers is very real. Just because you are not there to PK yourself does not mean you are safe. You have been warned.

Of course there are so many ways to make money on the server with so many various skills. However, getting too much into each skill and how it can make you money, this would just become a skill guide! I'll leave that for a later post or another person to take care of. If there is anything I have missed or just plain got wrong, please feel free to post the correction and I will edit ASAP. I hope this is found helpful to all the newcomers! Enjoy the server.

    Introductions / Arcticangel5
    « on: September 27, 2016, 03:05:19 PM »
Hi guys! My IGN is Arcticangel5 but if you want you can call me Rob (That's my real peoples name). I haven't played RS in almost two years, and RSPS in probably 5. So I'm very excited about being a part of this awesome server. Talk to me in game, I try to be very nice and helpful, also don't be discouraged if I take a long time responding, I just got shoulder surgery!
Anyway, thanks guys, this server is awesome and so are all of you!

    Trash Can / Donation Issues
    « on: September 22, 2016, 10:35:51 AM »

I have now donated twice, for two separate accounts and have not received the points in game. I have brought this up several times to several staff members and I have tried some of the remedies suggested but still no progress. I looked into BMT's side and it states that they are only responsible for transaction processing, not deliverance of the product. So, here again I reach out, attempting to get answers. Is an administrator or the owner could please promptly respond to this post it would be greatly appreciated. I can provide transaction ID numbers to clarify when contacted. Thank you.

    Respectfully Submitted,
