    Im trying to get rune agent to work but i dont think im starting it correctly.

    The issue being is i dont have a runeagent.jar or and of the dependencies. Does anyone know where i can get a full runeagent file....not the one from the github?

    the one on the github contains all the dependencies https://github.com/silabsoft/RuneAgent/tree/master/lib you just need to build it.

    I have the slight suspicion that if you can't even get RuneAgent to load, you're not using it for its intended purposes.

    The last time I said something like this it caused a minor argument between silab and david on what the "intended purposes" of this tool was.

    Well, obviously. But the debate of the "intended use" is if you're harming the server by doing so. The purpose of RuneAgent was to help server owners fix their issues without destroying their servers through the exploits (giving items to players, etc.)

    If you find an exploit on a server, notify the owner and don't abuse it. If the owner ignores it forever and doesn't take steps to solve it, then that's their own fault.

    That's what I was getting at. If you're just using it on your own server then do w/e you want.

    RuneAgent is also being a pain in the ass for me XD

    I get this everytime, in the runeagent console

    I doubt you are going to get much support for RuneAgent very few people actually use the thing but that error indicates you are not properly constructing a methodwrapper.

    You build it like any other gui based project.


    No need to validate the packet (Considering rune agent is just hopping off your client, it's using your data therefore it will be a valid packet). You need to do server sided checks to make sure what they did was acceptable.

    Ex: packet 236 Pickup ground item
    Whenever a player drops an item (Or an NPC, or whatever), add it to a List in your server. It would contain at least the x, y, z, and item id of the item.
    Then, whenever a player sends pickup ground item, you check that list to make sure that the item the player is attempting to pick up exists.
    If it does exist; remove it from the ground, the ground item list, and add it to the player inventory. If it doesn't, do nothing.

    And that's basically it for 236.

    I'm not sure what your intended purpose was with the creation of Rune Agent (ie. malicious or not) but I used it on my server Near Reality to a great extent and still use it today because it's much easier than creating a mock up client to test exploits with. I've fixed one dupe and multiple interface glitches that wouldn't have been possible without the hooks other players posted. I believe the greatest fix of them all was packet 121. While I could be upset that such a tool was given to the community and enabled players to cheat I'd much rather choose to be thankful for the awareness that the tool helped spread. Thank you.
