Huge Kudos to RSCR and their android app
    « on: February 22, 2015, 10:41:24 PM »
This is the first great thing to come out of RSC scene in a LONG time.
The app works perfect on my phone and it has bumped their in-game population by a lot.

    Great job guys.
    What a beautiful day.

I'll give kudos when they port it to Objective-C / Swift.

the app still needs work for sure, but yeah i think having an android app will increase population. Jagex may not be too happy with it though.

RSC on touchscreens & small form factor devices works a lot better than i imagined. tap toggle on the navigation bars at the top works well. obviously nobody would be pking on it though :P

RSC Update: JMods still lack interest. Lots and lots of debating.

Yeah thats what it is. If it was a real port you wouldnt need to display a cursor on screen.

I am an Andriod user all the way, only Apple products I own: pirated OSX and an iPod classic. This isn't *that* impressive though; it's been done before and isn't something that is entirely that difficult, however I haven't seen it done in production until now, so props to them for that.

    Yes I know.

The issue with RSC on phones is that the gameplay needs to change. There needs to be a new input system, like a menu where u can select for your character to do something then your character does that action. You can find the system I am referencing to every other game. Then again, I think the only reason RS hasn't gone mobile or on consoles is because it defeats the purposes of how the game is played. The RS app for grand exchange transactions is awesome but the gameplay for both runescape and classic still suck.

Granted, the UI could use improvement, but it's still the biggest accomplishment for a long time in RSC-dom, and credit should be given where credit is due.
Good job, n0m and RSCR staff.

Me too. The only thing is that I want to play an entirely offline version. Anyone know if this would be hard to do with or without RSCR's source code?

Offline version of rsc? Why would you want to singleplay rsc?

Below is a link to a decompiled apk/jar from their current android app so you guys can hopefully learn how they did it and adapt to making one for yourselves.

No offence but whole android app is quite pointless, since RSC is pretty much unplayable without mouse.

It would require massive changes to make it possible to catch/pk or even train skills with touch screen.

I guess you have never tried to play it on a phone then. It's very playable.

That is missing all the code which actually made it work. Theres nothing you can learn from that.

Anyone else have issues with the typing? If I want to log in I have to keep opening and closing my keyboard and using spaces then backspaces to type a new character... Samsung Galaxy s6.

I haven't experienced that Scully but there are some typing glitches I notice. I'm using SwiftKey on a Moto G and pressing the enter, space, and alternative keys buttons often cause my character to move instead of pressing the button whenever I press too close to the edge of my phone screen. Are you using SwiftKey? These glitches are definitely tolerable if you're careful where you press.

Yes I did, and I saw the gesture event handling but I can also tell you that gesture events is the easiest part of it.
