    Player Customizable Particle System
    « on: October 18, 2015, 03:08:32 AM »
The particle base was developed by 'Avatar Realms' & I added z-buffering and integrated it into player updating.

The particle color is based on the first color of the completionist cape. I'm spawning 200 particles a second that decay from 2.0f*2.0f to 0.05f with a vector of -3 and 1/2 gravity.

The engine can also replace the particles with sprites, as you can see the $ signs in the red cape.

Get over it? It looks awful, with the way that the old engine renders the game. Did you ever ask yourself instead of 'Can I?', 'Should I?'?

You care. So I'm going to give you a piece of advice, stop expecting a positive response. Do things you want to do because you enjoy the process. I think it looks awful. I said it. That's it. I'm not saying it was bad work. You, and everyone under the sun over here gets so offended. So shut up, explain more about it then to give more information rather than aesthetic photos that I only have to judge on.

Might aswell show us the efficiency.
I think it's ugly too, but that's a personal preference.

It's hardware accelerated so it doesn't really make much of an impact. It's just a filled circle drawn onto an opague gl canvas.

It's decent for a 317, but graphically it does look quite bad

I have never really liked the particle feature in general. It is cool you added this to your server but I don't like the look of it. It's not necessary the way you made it, I just don't like the particle thing as a whole.

    Anyways, goodjob.

It's not unique. You wanna know why there's no server out there like it?

The particles aren't even on the fudgeing capes l0l. They're Z location is far to low compared to the bottom of the cape. Also I agree with sini, adding "newer" engine features to the old game engine is ugly as hell, and is the reason why people don't do this kind of thing in the first place.

I personally think the problem isn't with the concept, but with the particles they decided to use. It took me way too long to realize the red particles were actually little dollar signs to represent the 'donation' cape (because I cba to actually read the post), and that does look pretty bad. The blue cape looks fine to me and I think this looks pretty good for the revision. Good work.

I'd prefer a vector of -2 and a decay to 0.02f but just my opinion
