ALL COMPILER/COMPILING RELATED QUESTIONS GO HERE
    « on: February 24, 2009, 09:39:14 PM »
Before asking a question in this thread, please make sure that you first try and solve it yourself by looking at this thread:

    https://forum.moparscape.org/index.php/topic,438121.0.html/

I'm sick and tired of this. I finally got off my lazy ass to come here and moderate a lil' - and what do I see? This entire section is filled with compiler/compiling related questions that could be solved with a simple search using Google.

From now on (starting the next day - the 25th), all compiling related questions go here. Normally I would ban them all together but that wouldn't stop you rebels from posting them anyway. This is a temporary fix until I decide what to do once and for all about this incompetence. FAQs, or Frequently Asked Questions, can be found below.

Note: All topics related to batch files that call the Java compiler (aka "compilers") MUST be posted in here. If this rule is not obeyed, punishments will be handed out.

Remember! This is a SERVER HELP section - not a "I don't know how to use Google so I came here instead!" section!

You do realize that most people that cannot use the java compiler correctly will ignore this.

Well instead of re-typing all of the info on my previous post I might as well post a link so the people who may help me can see what I have and have not tried already. Well its great that you made a place for these. Yes I am lazy for just posting the link to my post but I AM lazy so no need to point that fact out to me ;)

Exactly. People will continue to make posts about the compilers and ignore this. The actual only half-retarded people may stop by and make a post in here. This will work and won't work at the same time, but at least you decided to make a thread for it.;)

If you're talking about the people that can't correctly set their paths, then that's partly what this topic is for. Telenubby had said to me that this topic was made for compiler help in general, not just errors.

Wow, you actually read my pm and came here, good job you get a waffle.

You stated that you have JDK 6 Update 12, so the batch file should call the compiler like this.

    Code: [Select]
    @echo off
    title Compile
    "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_12\bin\javac.exe" -cp . *.java
    pause

Oh. There are things, very powerful things, that can be done to people who ignore this post.

The point of this thread is for questions to be asked here. You're redirecting people to another topic with the same purpose.

I'm talking about the people that cannot simply call javac.

I tried that code Ziplock. Still no luck.

The system cannot find the path specified.
Press any key to continue . . .

And just because people don't know a lick about servers doesn't mean we are all retarded or even half retarded. Just ignorant on this subject you have more knowledge about.

Ok, Check your current version of JDK, if you went with auto-install it will install in this directory.

    Code: [Select]
    C:/program files/Java/*

Sokid, find where you installed your copy of the JDK and use that path within the call to javac.exe. We're not gods and can't simply tell you the path you installed something to.

It is the point of this thread, But that does not start today. I took that line wrong, Sorry. But I am still lazy and most likely would have refrained from posting here at all if I knew links weren't allowed.

I do believe if your that lazy then you should probably refrain from trying to program, As in most cases it's not an easy task. You really have to get dedicated.

If I search Java from the start menu and click open file location it is in:

    Computer > C: > Windows > System32

I am very ignorant on this subject.

Ok, For some reason you installed your java directory in system32.

Then the batch code should be along these lines.

    Code: [Select]
    @echo off
    title Compile
    "C:\Windows\System32\Java\jdk1.6.0_12\bin\javac.exe" -cp . *.java

Maybe I should, But I was this lazy while learning HTML and a tid bit of CSS also and I had the basics down in a week on just knawing on some information. I think once I touch the surface it will come fast and I will stay out of your hair, For the mean time of course. I'm sure if I get into it some more advanced problem will arise.

I still get that even with that code. Are there any other things I can check out or attempt?

So let me get this straight. Is this topic about questions such as "Cannot find the path specified", or questions such as "cannot find symbol: variable question1"? Or is this thread for both?

It's for compiler problems in general, as TeleNubby told me.

I guess everyone became bored of either this topic or of me. I guess there is nothing that enthusiastic about me, or the topic for that matter.
