    I think this thread and the 'Common Compile Errors' should me merged. No point having one thread explaining errors and another one for asking questions about the errors.

    Did you change the compiler to use "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin\javac.exe *.java?

    In the client side of my server, I found another compiler. What is it for cause when I configure it, It says this-

    Note: Some input files use or override a deprecated API.
    Note: Recompile with -Xlint:deprecation for details.

    So Heres what I need answered...

    1. What this compiler is for
    2. How to use it
    3. When to use it

    Thanks in advance!  :P

    1. A java compiler takes your java source file and writes it as java bytecode in a .class file. Your computer reads the bytecode, not the code you write.
    2. You double click the batch, which you already did ;)
    3. You would use a compiler any time you edit a java source file, if you don't any changes to that file wont take effect until it is compiled.
    Peace isn't merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.

    I am new to all this and wanting to start. I have become familiar on where to find things so just tell me where and I will know. Im needing help compiling the server I downloaded. Anyway, Im running on a 64-bit OS. and so my program files have the (x86)  at the end. I need help setting up my enviromental variable also. I have jdk 21 which is the latest version right now and also the latest jre and so Im set with so. Will someone please tell me what goes in my user variaables and also what goes in my system variables. Once we get that set, I need someone to write the code to put in the compiler. I know how to get into the editor screen of the compiler lol :) With all the information I have given about my OS and ma java, all the computer genius people out there should be able to put something together for me :)

    This is my Compile Edit screen:
    @echo off
    @TITLE Reality's compiler
    if exist "%programfiles%\Java" (call :compile "%programfiles%\Java\") else (goto error)
    :compile
    for /D %%x in ("%~1jdk*") do (set p="%%~x\bin\javac.exe")
    if defined p (%p% -cp . *.java)
    if defined p (goto end)
    :error
    echo You do not have Java installed. Please download it at the site that is about to load.
    :end
    echo Finished!
    pause
    exit

    What would I need to replace to make the compile work?

    Thanks again everyone and this is ver much appreciated
    Basak

    Im back again :) I created my own code for it to reconize java on my computer. But now it is telling me that I have a deprecated API and I need to recomile with Xlint. What is xlint and do I really need to get it to make this work? Just how do I fix this deprecated API problem in my compiler?

    This thread and this thread should be combined. There is no point having two stuck threads about compilers.

    Im confused now. I have a source. I have a client also. I have the source connected to the client and everything. I have the Ip address made from the website No-ip.com and I also have portforwarded it. So as far as I know everything is running correctly. The only problem that exists in my mind is how in the world will people find a client that is compatiable with my source and be able to get on. Im putting this server up for my friends and I. Where in the world will they go in order to get onto my server? Do I need a webclient? If so... how do I go about making one?
