    Set Exp modes | Help Please
    « on: February 28, 2016, 06:15:48 PM »
    Hello!

    So atm I have it so when people log in they are given a custom exp rate of x100 & they can change it at a certain NPC who provides them with options like set exp to x500 or x1 etc, I want to make it so that when a player logs in, they get prompted with a chatbox with a few options like x1 x25 x50 x100 x500, and they lock in on that, like they cant change it and depending on what rate they choose they get a custom title, the title part I can do but im not sure what files I should be messing with when it comes to the exp rate part.

    Any help is greatly appriciated!

    No, we just require that you do a bit of research yourself.

    Sorry but you are kind of confusing me. Is this for PI that you are struggling with this?

    Never mind the revision, just look at the coding and look at the pattern of it all.

    Take similar coding from the npc that lets you change your xp rate. And add it to your method where the player joins your server. If PI, then add it to your ADDSTARTER method.

    Here are some tutorials how to do it. Just take the parts of the tutorial that you need and add to your starter method.

    Choosing EXP Mode On Start | 718 | Avalon Source | Help
    « Reply #9 on: February 29, 2016, 12:09:24 PM »
    Hello, I made a post like this yesterday, but I dont think I made myself clear. And yes this will be my last post about this
    And yes I did research myself, and I couldnt find anything about this in 718, only 317 PI.

    I want to make it so when someone logs in for the first time, They get prompted with a dialog such as
    player.getDialogueManager().startDialogue();
    They get to choose a certain exp rate (Mode)
    Such as..
    Easy x500
    Medium x250
    Hard x100
    Legend x25
    Extreme x1

    But it's not in Settings.java

    Find where server message is being displayed when you login
    Add your dialogue
    Create a game mode variable in player files
    Create a getXpMod method for getting the xp multiplier.
    Code: [Select]
    for(int i=0; i < 2147483647; i++) {
    doFacedesk();
    }

    Java is Java.
    While the tutorials released may be for a PI, it should take little effort by a programmer (Or a skiddie that knows the fundamentals of Java) to convert it over. Based on your responses, you seem to be either
    A) Full of yourself, which makes me think that you believe you are a top notch programmer.
    or
    B) You have no knowledge of Java and you want tutorials that tell you a step by step.

    If A, then go ahead and try converting the PI code.

    If B, Stop asking for us to do everything.

    If neither, actually show us what you're having an issue with. For example: Are you unable to make a dialogue pop up? Unable to check it on login? What?

    Ooh! Alright thanks :D Now I just need to figure out how to do the things after adding the dialog, I havent gotten that far in learning java, but I think I have an idea!

    By create a variable i just meant throw this in your player file
    Code: [Select]
    public int gameMode = 0;
    As for the getXpMod method also in player file

    Code: [Select]
    public double getXpMod(Player player) {
    if (player.gameMode == 0) {//a game mode number
    return 1.5;
    // ^ xp for gamemode number 0
    }
    return 1.0;
    }

    You may need to use a long or a int as return idk but im sure you'll figure it out also read up on your lingo so you don't get confused so easily you definitely learned how to lol...

    Code: [Select]
    public int gameMode = 0;
    Code: [Select]
    for(int i=0; i < 2147483647; i++) {
    doFacedesk();
    }
