    on a serious note; what do you plan on doing with the money frell?

    i know you need to buy all the licenses for the engine/modeling software etc.
    do you plan to make the money last as long as possible with just you and dakota or perhaps hire on more developers/artists/musicians?

    on-site dedicated servers for the game worlds/databases or will you be renting from another company to save yourself bandwidth etc?

    We aren't expanding the immediate team (we really like how we're setup now with just us two), we'll just be outsourcing art/music to speed up development. Even then there's still tons left which we'll hold in an account up until release in case any other opportunities for the game come up


    We'll be renting servers, but players will also be able to host/tweak their own. So once player hosted servers rise we can close some of ours since they'd be empty anyway.

    Cbf to get into modding this time around, its one of the more advanced sides of things

    We'll let them tweak a ton of settings though on their own servers. Speed up/slow down ships, edit accuracy and damage of weapons, weather etc. They just wont be able to add in their own ships/weapons.

    We might do what Garry did for rust and open up the workshop and manually add in the highest rated mods ourselves so it's much more official, but the copyright issues make that path less appealing.

    PS Interesting that you have donations open even longer, and I also noticed it was through Paypal istead of Kickstarter. Was that because Kickstarter took a large percentage of the raised funds or do you actually need the funds for servers or a dev team? I'm curious

    And we opened backing again because so many people found out about it just after the KS ended and were begging us to back, and Kickstarter doesn't support paypal so some people without CCs also couldn't back
